Jon Hicks
Registered Chiropractor 03717

Jon spent most of his childhood growing up in Dubai, but it wasn’t until he moved back to his home in Essex that he became aware of Chiropractic and saw first-hand the benefits to members of his own family.

Jon’s decision to pursue a career in Chiropractic was heavily influenced by his own experiences as a patient and his love of anatomy and sports. Impressed with the result of Chiropractic treatment, he moved to Wales where he studied for a Masters Degree in Chiropractic, before moving to Cambridge to continue this profession. Jon has also since worked in a clinic in Hertfordshire alongside other healthcare professionals such as Physiotherapists and Osteopaths before deciding to move back to his home county of Essex, where he is now the Head Chiropractor for Backworks & Southend United Football Club. “I enjoy helping people reach optimum health and getting them back to day-to-day activities that they were previously unable to do. Each person is an individual and needs to be treated that way. It is that challenge within this profession that makes it so worthwhile” Jon receives ongoing treatment himself to ensure he is in peak condition and can deliver the best care to his patients. His personal interests include a variety of sports, particularly rowing, swimming and rugby, as well as spending time with family and friends. Jon is registered with the General Chiropractic Council, as well as a member of the British Chiropractic Association and Royal College of Chiropractors.

Jennifer Woodman
Registered Chiropractor 03655

Jenny graduated in 2012 from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic, having thoroughly enjoyed the 4 year MChiro degree and life in Wales! Starting her career in Grantham, she moved home to work in South Staffordshire for 5 years before recently relocating to Essex to join Jon here at Backworks.

Jenny grew up with horses and when her horse, Secret, needed some musculoskeletal attention, she was introduced to chiropractic, albeit the animal variety! Along with her interests in physical education, biology and working with people, Jenny decided that chiropractic was the profession for her and feels so lucky to have found it. Jenny loves helping people everyday and watching her patients progress and change into happier, healthier people! She does this through a variety of methods, including dry needling and taping along with the conventional hands on soft tissue work, mobilisation, manipulation and exercises.

Veneta Vanicek
Registered Chiropractor 04732

‘My name is Veneta (or Netty, if you prefer), I graduated from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic with a distinction and, having worked in a Clinic in South Wales for a while, moved to Southend to take up the opportunity to join the Backworks team.

I worked as a massage therapist before I started university, which sparked an interest in the field of manual therapies, but I felt I would be more suited to Chiropractic. I’ve always wanted to have a career that would allow me to help people and improve their quality of life, and Chiropractic has helped me fulfil that dream. I love seeing my patients get better and enjoying their lives without restrictions. I use a variety of techniques, including soft tissue work, manipulation, mobilisation, exercise advice, as well as dry needling (a form of medical acupuncture). In my spare time I enjoy drawing, latin dancing, and photography – and on a sunny day mountain hiking. I also have a passion for dog training and have worked with the Guide Dogs Association.’
